Creating space for voices to be heard in Manchester

South Asian Listening Circles

(A South Asian Heritage Trust project, funded by The National Lottery through Awards for All)

What are the Listening Circles?

The South Asian Listening Circles are safe, welcoming spaces for anyone in Manchester to come together, talk openly, and listen deeply.

Each circle explores themes that shape our lives identity, belonging, faith, family, gender, mental health, and culture in an atmosphere of respect, honesty, and care.

Our Listening Circles are a space to encourage open conversations that connect us, moments to pause, share, and feel heard.

Sometimes, being heard changes everything.

Why Listening Circles matter

Across Manchester, many people are feeling unsafe, unheard, or disconnected.

These circles offer something simple but powerful: space to be seen, supported, and understood.

By listening to each other’s stories, we rebuild trust, strengthen relationships, and remind one another that we can support each other, that we have more in common than we know.

Everything shared in a circle stays within the group. These are confidential, non-judgmental spaces where every voice matters.

Who are our Listening Circles for?

The Listening Circles will focus on South Asian themes and experiences.

South Asian heritage is vast, vibrant and personal, which is why our Listening Circles are open to everyone and anyone of all backgrounds and identity, to take part in honest, compassionate conversations about community and belonging in Manchester.

"Feel free to come and simply be present. There is no pressure to talk, to listen. Sharing the space can be a way of showing support."
