The Lancet/Elsevier: Exploring South Asian Heritage – Tracing Roots to Routes
2025 marks 6 years since the first South Asian Heritage Month was launched in the UK to celebrate, commemorate, and educate. This year’s theme, ’Roots to Routes‘, encourages us to reflect on our unique journeys and shared histories, fostering greater inclusivity within our organisation and beyond.
In recognition of South Asian Heritage Month 2025, Elsevier’s Anti-racism Employee Resource Group Embrace and the Lancet‘s Group for Racial Equity (GRacE) are excited to invite you to a special virtual panel discussion exploring:
- How roots have impacted the routes that our panelists have taken
- What role roots play in shaping cultural identity
- The relationship between race & ethnicity and healthcare
- How colonial history shaped South Asian roots and routes
On 7th August at 12.00–13.30 BST, we’ll be joined by:
- Subhadra Das: Writer, Historian, Curator, and Comedian
- Rohini Mathur: Academic, Data Scientist, and Epidemiologist
- Zeshan Qureshi: Paediatrician, Academic, and Writer
This is a free, online event and everyone is invited and encouraged to attend, whatever your heritage, location and journey in life.
