Nagesh Kukunoor’s enchanting fable follows the heartwarming bond between 10-year-old Pari and her 8-year-old blind brother Chotu, who live in a small village in Rajasthan.
Orphaned at a young age and raised by their uncle and aunt, Pari has promised Chotu he’ll regain his sight by the time he turns nine – though they can’t afford the surgery.
One day, a poster of Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan convinces Pari he can help. When she learns he’s hooting a film 300km away, the siblings set out on a journey filled with dusty roads, kind strangers and unexpected challenges.
Their unwavering optimism turns the trek into a magical odyssey through a land of poverty and wonder. Dhanak is a joyful celebration of hope, love and the unshakeable spirit of childhood.
