SUMMARY:The CMS South Asian Heritage Month Fair
DESCRIPTION:The CMS South Asian, Sikh and Hindu (“SASH”) Network proudly welcomes you to celebrate South Asian Heritage Month (“SAHM”) with us. SAHM is a month-long celebration in the South Asian diaspora to commemorate, mark and celebrate South Asian cultures, histories and communities. The celebration first took place in 2020 and runs from 18 th July to 17 th August of each year. The aim of the celebration is to shed light on the diverse heritage and cultures that link the UK with South Asia. As such, to celebrate this occasion, the SASH Network is excited to be hosting a fair!\nThe fair will include:\n\nHenna stall – a talented henna artist will be onsite to create beautiful designs;\nTurban tying stall – a demonstration on how to wear and tie a turban (dastar);\nChallenge your knowledge stall – a quiz testing your geographical and historical knowledge of South Asia with a prize for the winner;\nArt attack stall – get involved with making your own rakhri and decorate a bookmark or candle holder with traditional rangoli and mandala patterns; and\nSaree dressing stall – a demonstration on how to wear and tie a saree.\n\nThere will also be an Indian buffet for everyone to enjoy along with live music. The SASH Network will be hosting Khalsa Aid, which is a UK-based humanitarian relief charity providing support around the world to victims of natural and man-made disasters such as floods, earthquakes, famine and war.\nA member of Khalsa Aid’s senior management team will be providing a talk at the fair to give further information about the amazing work they do. Guests are welcome to support this charity by making donations on the day. CMS has kindly promised to match the donations made to Khalsa Aid at this event.\nThe fair will be open to employees and clients and the SASH Network invites you all to take part in the colourful and vibrant celebrations.
